In addition, the project seeks to strengthen partnerships between public and private institutions linked to the green economy on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar. The inauguration of the Diploma was held on 13 September at the headquarters of the Rectorate of the International University of Andalusia in Seville, with the presence of José Ignacio García Pérez, rector of the University, Manuel Redaño González, manager of FAMSI, and Alfonso Vargas Vázquez, president of CLANER.

The degree is offered thanks to the collaboration between the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI) and CLANER, the renewable energy association of Andalusia, in the framework of the pilot project “Move Green”, led by both entities, together with the AN^MAR Federation of local authorities in the North of Morocco and Andalusia. It is co-financed by the European Union through the Migration Partnership Facility, managed by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).

The Diploma of Specialisation in Renewable Energies and Sustainability is the central element of the young people’s stay in Andalusia, which runs from September to December 2022, with a course load of 45 credits: 30 credits of theoretical training, co-directed by Pablo Millán Gata, PhD in industrial engineering, professor and director of the engineering department of the Loyola University of Andalusia and Francisco Bas Jiménez, industrial engineer of the Andalusian Energy Agency, and associate professor at the Loyola University of Andalusia. The 15 practical training credits are directed by Iñigo Vázquez García, and will include the participation of CLANER member companies.

The 18 people participating in this first edition have received specific training at the Cervantes Institute to reinforce their language skills and technical training to introduce them to renewable energies. At the end of this stage, they will continue their business and employability skills training on their return to Morocco, after a four-month stay in Andalusia.
